Trim - biking is great!

Tonight we took the bikes and headed down the road, crossed the river on Brenne, and went to Nes, from here we rode along the E6 to Drageid again, and headed down river. We could see how the flood had devastated to fill up with gravel and mud along the river system. Then we met Hilde & Per Arne along the road on their brand new 4Wheeler!

"Spring is the hardest time in the year", - Per Arne says.

It is busy day in the barn with Per Arne; he welcomes new lamb all day and night, and must constantly correct the wrong position, and ensure that the lambs are doing well, even after birth. If there are too many on a sheep, he must adopt out, if appropriate. Now it is not many left, and soon it's time to let the herd leave for the mountain pastures. Then we will meet another challenge.  Predators are very interested in young lambs, this year Per Arne leads a project which will give information about the sheep with position readable from his PC, so-called "Radiobjeller"  "It is a exciting project, and we hope it will give us more information about the reason for our lost lamb,"- Per Arne says.

The National Day and summertimes - heat and waterflow!

We visited Marielle & Marcus on National Day, and it was warm and fine weather in Bodø. National Day brings a lot of tradition, and costumes, as well as trains. Now the NSB in Norway closed in Saltdal because of flooding, so here it was only The 17.mai-trains. It started at 9:00 in the morning time, it went in rapid, with all trains, Civil train went by the time 4:00 p.m., it was full, so we just watched. Not much music where we stood. However, we had wonderful dinners and meals in between. Elisabeth had prepared lamb, so we used the opportunity in the middle of the day to get us dinner, and great dessert. Finally there was the Tivoli, and speed and excitement. Family Per Inge and Doi Liljar with Trym Henning and Kasander was invited on cake, and Emil liked his new friends! We were home in Saltdal just over 21:00, when we saw that Saltdal River was well above its banks, and several other tributaries had high water flow. It guess it will be summer this year too!

Biking to inspect the Lambs and the situation at Per Arne's Ranch #2

Emil likes to bike, mormor biked with him down to see the sheep and lambs at Per Arnes farm number 2. And then Emil could help making fence and secure the area for the sheep and the lambs. They will be out tomorrow morning, and then they have their own scene outside, it is a steel house, which will be filled up with wood chips and shavings - very cosy to rest on. There will be plenty of space, and grass for dinner. Here the herd will prepare for going into the mountain later this spring. The lambs will sure grow big enough, then some of them will wear GPS transmitters, and Per Arne can sit and follow the herd from his computer.
Emil likes the lambs
"This fence is good enough", - Emil said
Emil always like to help where he can

Suddenly the summer was here! All in one!

The Spring lasted for one day, then the summer arrived! From snow to grass, and with all this the summeractivities was on the program. Emil is visiting us, and when I do things with my Nissan, change oil and other stuff, Emil likes to do the same to his bike, bike #2 or his tractor. Emil is really good in biking, now, he like to change between the #1 bike with supporting wheels, then he takes the #2, which is without, and he is biking better and better. He must then rest for a while. We took most of the snow away, then the sun and the rain came and killed the rest of the snow! Today we visited Rognan Centrum, then we had to pay Per Arne a visit on his Ranch # 2, Ner-Drage, we missed the breakfast, there, this morning, but Emil got his smoked salmon, which he likes best! Monday we have 17. May, and it seems to be very nice weather here in the north, thanks!

Acouple of new dogs, (Puppies), for Tony and Ann Guro!

Today Tony and Ann Guro left for Stockholm, and returned the same evening with 2 brand new sheep dog puppies, no name yet, but soon. And tomorrow, actually in 30 minutes we can say congratulations to Tony on his birthday, friday! We met the lucky ones outside Per Arne's barn, where he was busy collecting lambs, hundreds of them these days! The night is still light, but cold, close to zero, but the sheep and the lambs are ruling the stage! Nice solution! We had to save the material for Tony, there was a water leakage close to the stack.
